Consumed was very well written and very funny, and the actors were all incredible. I found however that a lot of the ideas and content were very particular and I didn't think much of it would make much sense to someone who didn't have a strong understanding of the historical background. I found some of the choices made to be quite disturbing or upsetting, and it didn't feel balanced.
Lovely play that will take you to the heart of Northern Ireland and the complexities surrounding the understanding we have on identity and diaspora. It looks at the connection we have to our ancestors and inter generational trauma caused by war and throws up history with humour during a time when they had no choice (as in many areas of conflict) but to continue on about their day whilst looking away while atrocities were going on around them.
