Don’t miss Ballad Lines, a gorgeous new folk musical from composer Finn Anderson and director Tania Azevedo, as it premieres at Southwark Playhouse Elephant. Book Ballad Lines tickets on TodayTix.
Ballad Lines is a musical that tells the story of Sarah, a queer woman living in contemporary New York City, whose life takes an unexpected turn when she hears a beautiful melody from her past — one she had hoped she had abandoned. The song reconnects her to the women that came before her in her lineage, and through Cait in 17th-century Scotland and Jean in 18th-century Ireland, Ballad Lines gloriously tells one family’s story. It explores themes of motherhood and identity, and the sacrifice that comes with each of those things.
Blending Scottish, Irish, and Appalachian folk music with a beautiful new score, Ballad Lines in London is a truly magnificent image of legacy and the choices we must make about what we want to carry forward.
