Pride in London is set during the miners’ strike of 1984 and follows a young activist, Mark Ashton, as he helps form an unlikely political alliance between London LGBTQ+ activists during the AIDS crisis and the pit communities of South Wales. With the country in turmoil in the middle of these two difficult hardships, both communities are facing great hostility and prejudice. The group begins to raise money for striking miners and finds unlikely friendships.
Based on the hit film Pride, this brand-new musical reunites writer Stephen Beresford and director Matthew Warchus, who return to the story they brought to the screen together. Featuring original music by Christopher Nightingale, Josh Cohen, and DJ Walde, Pride brings to the stage an uplifting story of solidarity.

Spectacular show, always a risk going to see a remake of a favourite film or book, but I think they actually upgraded the film in this musical. The actor playing Steph was standout of an excellent cast, all were wonderful

Pride is a musical that brings the true story of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners to life on stage. The group was founded during the 1984 miners’ strike, when LGBTQ+ activists in London began to fundraise for mining communities in South Wales. What started as a political alliance became a lasting bond between two communities that were facing great difficulties and hardship.
This production features a masterful creative team, including direction by Matthew Warchus, music by Christopher Nightingale, Josh Cohen, and DJ Walde, lighting design by Hugh Vanstone, and sound design by Bobby Aitken.
Alongside this wonderful creative team is a formidable cast that includes Samuel Barnett as Jonathan, Lewis Cornay as Bromley, Matthew Durkan as Mike, Gillian Elisa as Gwen, Daniel Forrester as Mark, Alyn Hawke as Reggie, Robin Hayward as Martin, Chris Jenkins as Mike, Darren Lawrence as Cliff, and Kirsty Malpass as Hefina, alongside a larger ensemble company.
