About Wendy & Peter Pan

Wendy & Peter Pan was first staged at the RSC, where it was quickly a sold-out success. It heads to London for a limited season at the Barbican this autumn.

The talented creative team includes sets and costumes by Colin Richmond, sound design by Christopher Shutt, music by Shuhei Kamimura, and lighting by Oliver Fenwick.

With brilliant writing by Ella Hickson (Oedipus, Adult Children), spectacular direction from Jonathan Munby (King Lear, A Number), and incredible performances, this show manages to juggle themes of love, loss, and what it truly means to grow up.

“It is… a show that will surely make theatre lovers out of youngsters experiencing the art form for the first time.” The Guardian commented after its 2022 staging at Leeds Playhouse.

Audiences of all ages will be enthralled by this magical and incredibly enchanting performance. It is sure to be a smashing hit. According to Variety, Wendy & Peter Pan will “bring joy and magic” to the Barbican stage.

What to watch for

  • Captain Hook was not initially a character in Peter Pan. Barrie would later add him to the story to give the play a proper villain.
  • Walt Disney's Peter Pan (1953) was Disney's 14th animated feature collection.
  • Wendy's name was invented by Barrie, as it was inspired by a child who called him "my friend," though she had a lisp, so it sounded like "fwendy."
  • In 1954, Mary Martin starred as Peter in Peter Pan, which won her a Tony Award.
