Mrs President is a play by historian and playwright John Ransom Phillips. The production first premiered in 2024 at Charing Cross Theatre before it was workshopped in New York. Now, it returns to Charing Cross Theatre, reimagined with greater depth than before.
Mrs President in London boasts a formidable creative team, including director Bronagh Lagan, set designer Anna Kelsey, projections by Matt Powell, and lighting design by Derek Anderson.
As the WhatsOnStage review said, “The design elements are the production’s strengths. Anna Kelsey’s set features a large golden picture frame, perfectly matching the context of the play. The historically accurate period pieces include elegant, hooped dresses for Mary, while the set is a plain photography studio with wooden furniture and portraits on the wall.”
