About OKLAHOMA!

There’s a bright golden haze on the meadow. Discover the classic musical with a reimagined take in the West End, and book Oklahoma! tickets in London on TodayTix.

Daniel Fish's adaptation cleverly changes the entire musical, without altering a line or song lyric. As a result, the Rodgers and Hammerstein show now combines new elements of fun, sexiness and political conversations into the Golden Age classic — you’d think it was written yesterday.

London Theatre raved about Oklahoma! at the Young Vic, saying: “it seems like a cliché to say that this show couldn’t be more timely, but its relevance… about a divided territory with classes at odds, struggling to find common ground to become a unified state, the parallels with our divided world are painfully clear.” Don’t miss your chance to see the seductive Oklahoma! for yourself.

Set at the turn of the 20th century, Oklahoma! sees local girl Laurey Williams caught in a love triangle with two acquaintances: cowboy Curly McClain and farm hand Jud Fry. But in a musical where the farmers and cowmen try to be friends, can they all come together for the greater good?

Oklahoma! won two Olivier Awards: Best Musical Revival, and Best Actor in a Musical (Arthur Darvill). The show also received Olivier nominations for: Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical (Liza Sadovy and Marisha Wallace), Best Actress in a Musical (Anoushka Lucas), Best Sound Design (Drew Levy), Best Original Score (Daniel Kluger & Nathan Koci). You’re doing fine, Oklahoma!

More information about OKLAHOMA!

This isn’t your typical Oklahoma! in London. A seven-piece band play reorchestrated arrangements of all the musical theatre classics, like “People Will Say We’re In Love,” “Many a New Day,” as well as an electrifying 15-minute dream ballet.

Similar to Oklahoma’s lengthy transition to becoming a state, this Oklahoma! musical journey to the stage took many years. Daniel Fish’s adaptation started out at Bard SummerSpace in 2015, but quickly gained momentum with an Off-Broadway run at St Ann’s Warehouse. The show then transferred to the Circle in the Square Theatre on Broadway, picking up eight Tony Award nominations.

What To Watch For:

  • Lynn Rigg's 1931 play, Green Grow the Lilacs, inspired Rodgers and Hammerstein to create their debut musical. While Green Grow the Lilacs only ran for 64 performances, Oklahoma! earned Rodgers and Hammerstein an honorary Pulitzer Prize, and regular revivals on Broadway and in the West End.
  • Two of the Oklahoma! cast members continue with the musical in the West End. Patrick Vaill and Patrick Davis played Jud Fry and Will Parker on Broadway, in the Young Vic, and now in the West End.
