In particular, Brutus and Cassius are concerned about Julius Caesar and the potential damage he could inflict. They believe there’s only one solution to save the Holy Roman Empire and put an end to his terrifying reign, but at what cost? Well, once you enter politics, everything is a matter of life and death. Will the tyrannical dictator ever be stopped?

Julius Caesar London performances aim to shine a light on current affairs while harking back to Roman, and 16th century beliefs. Shakespeare’s epic play is now hauntingly relevant to the real world. Book Julius Caesar tickets in London on TodayTix.

What to Watch For

  • Diane Page directs Julius Caesar at Shakespeare’s Globe. Page’s previous directorial credits include Out West at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, a trio of plays that explored life in west London. Similarly, Page will add a modern twist to Julius Caesar — a 16th-century Shakespeare play.
  • The Roman emperor Julius Caesar personifies the Roman empire, however he didn’t rule for a great length of time. The former dictator only ruled from 46 - 44 BC, so just two years.
  • Julius Caesar is staged as part of Shakespeare’s Globe 25th anniversary season. The theatre opened in 1997 in honour of — and is built to look like — the original Globe Theatre.
