With an entrance built in the neoclassical style and housing almost 500 works of great art, the Buckingham Palace Queen’s Gallery is an esteemed public art gallery at Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the British monarch. This gallery features art, mostly paintings and drawings, from the Royal Collection on a rotating basis. Built in 1962, Buckingham Palace Queen’s Gallery is home to evolving exhibitions (including, in 2019, 200 of Leonardo da Vinci's drawings).
A new exhibit, Style & Society: Dressing the Georgians, is on display through October 8, 2023. See what Georgians wore in 1700s Britain, from the practical dress of laundry maids to the gowns worn at court. From the frilly dresses of the Rococo period in the 1700s through the more refined 1800s, a period in which technology boomed and the Industrial Revolution changed commerce, this exhibition offers a glimpse at the sartorial lives of a key period of British history.
