Opera House at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing ArtsJohn F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts is the national cultural center of the United States. Located in Washington DC along the Potomac River, the sprawling building, which opened in 1971, has three main performance spaces: the Eisenhower Theater, the Opera Hall, and the Concert Hall. There are also six additional venues within the center for smaller-scale productions. The Kennedy Center’s Grand Foyer is one of the largest rooms in the world, with 63-foot high ceilings and a length of 630 feet. In addition to theatre works, the complex presents dance, music, and multimedia performances for all ages. The Kennedy Center supports the development of new works with commissions, and presents world-premiere productions. It is also a hub of performing arts education with the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival and a teacher training program, Changing Education Through the Arts.
