About Colourful Characters
For their final performance, our 2027 Fellows are joined by their Sydney Symphony colleagues for music by Stravinsky, Copland, Schoenberg and Gruber that is full of character, energy and colour.
Stravinsky, Copland, Schoenberg and Gruber prove that less sometimes is more, with music for a smaller orchestra that is full of character, energy and colour.
Schoenberg packs a full symphonic sound into just fifteen instruments, Copland evokes big moods in a Quiet City and Stravinsky’s Suites began life as piano duets before expanding to a bigger sound. Then HK Gruber reanimates the story of Frankenstein’s monster, setting children’s nursery rhymes to darkly humorous, eclectic music.
