Infernal Dances with Kirill Gerstein presented by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra tickets
About Infernal Dances with Kirill Gerstein
Schubert’s Fifth Symphony opens in a burst of pure Classical delight. Bright, fresh and a touch Mozartian, it’s alive with a lighter spirit.
Almost a piano concerto, Liszt’s Totentanz demands the technical heights and sensitivity of an artist like Kirill Gerstein, who ‘has the ability to make even the most terrifyingly difficult compositions look like a piece of cake’ (Australian Arts Review).
Then acclaimed English composer Thomas Adès taking on Dante’s Inferno with wicked vividness. Wasps sting the damned, Charon’s boat creaks across the Acheron, and Satan lies frozen in the ice while vast chords land like something massive shifting its weight.
Kirill Gerstein's performances with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra have been made possible with generous support from the Berg Family Foundation.
