Pietari Inkinen conducts Shostakovich presented by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra tickets
About Pietari Inkinen conducts Shostakovich
Pietari Inkinen returns to Sydney to conduct Shostakovich’s Leningrad’ Symphony, a profound musical symbol of resistance against fascism and authoritarianism
A monumental symbol of defiance, Shostakovich’s Leningrad Symphony is dark, urgent and unforgettable. Born from the siege of Leningrad during the Second World War, it remains one of music’s most devastating expressions of resistance, and one of the most cathartic to experience live.
Conductor Pietari Inkinen, ‘ever the man for the big moment’ (Limelight), meets this vast symphonic epic with colossal force. The music builds through pounding rhythms and the relentless pressure of war, but its most compelling power lies in its portrait of human suffering and liberation.
Powerful, haunting and ultimately hopeful.
