About ONCE at Comedy Theatre Melbourne

Following sold-out seasons in Sydney, the breathtaking musical ONCE makes its long-awaited return to Melbourne to make you fall in love all over again!

ONCE is an enchanting tale about a struggling Irish musician on the verge of giving up, when a charming Czech piano-player takes a sudden interest in his music. Set on the streets of Dublin and featuring an outstanding ensemble of performers playing their instruments live on stage, Once is a tender love story about reaching for your dreams and the power of music to connect us all.

Based on the movie of the same name by John Carney, ONCE features a book by Enda Walsh and music & lyrics by Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová. It's the only Broadway show with music that won an Academy Award®, Grammy Award®, Olivier Award and Tony Award® (including Best Musical).

With songs from the critically-acclaimed film, including the Oscar-winning song ‘Falling Slowly’, this spellbinding musical will have you holding your breath from beginning to end.
