Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? is a play set after a faculty party runs late on campus; Martha invites a younger couple back to her home for drinks, much to the frustration of her husband, George, a professor. Their guests, new professor Nick and his wife, Honey, expect polite and professional conversation, but what they end up walking into is nothing of the sort. It is a brutal night filled with alcohol and psychological torment, and they’re caught in the middle.
Gillian Anderson stars as Martha, opposite Billy Crudup as George, in this major West End revival. Josh Dylan plays Nick, with Phoebe Horn as Honey. Directed by Tony and Olivier Award winner Marianne Elliott, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? brings audiences deep into the trenches of a marriage filled with dark humour and great tension.
