Cyrano de Bergerac in London introduces us to Cyrano, who is a soldier and poet, skilled in both word and swordsmanship. While he may be sharp with his hands and tongue, when it comes to matters of romance, he struggles greatly. He is perturbed by his own appearance, which gets in the way of his growing crush on Roxane as he watches her fall for another man, Christian. Christian is a handsome soldier who struggles with his words.
When Christian looks to Cyrano for help, the two men become tangled in a romance where Cyrano so eloquently communicates Christian’s and his own feelings to a woman who is none the wiser. Directed by Simon Evans and co-adapted with Debris Stevenson, this West End production follows a sold-out Royal Shakespeare Company run and stars Adrian Lester as Cyrano, with Susannah Fielding as Roxane, and Levi Brown as Christian.

Cyrano de Bergerac is a play written by Edmond Rostand in 1897 and has become one of the world’s most enduring romantic tragicomedies. It was inspired by the real 17th-century writer and duellist, Cyrano de Bergerac. The play is well known for its hero’s courage and wit despite his love lost and his own insecurities.
This production brings fresh humour and passion to Rostand’s story while remaining loyal to its period setting. It is truly a modern story, one that we have all faced. Are we worthy of the things we want? Do our insecurities define us? Shall we not be defined by what is in our hearts rather than, in Cyrano’s case, on our faces?
The creative team for this production includes set and costume designer Grace Smart, lighting designer Joshie Harriette, composer Alex Baranowski, and sound designer Donato Wharton. With music and dueling, and a larger ensemble cast curating a brilliant performance, this rendition of Cyrano de Bergerac gives a classic new story a vivid revival on the West End.
