In her Globe Theatre directing debut, Associate Artist Indiana Lown-Collins (former Globe Resident Artist, JMK Award winner for The Solid Life of Sugar Water, Orange Tree Theatre) channels the warmth and vibrancy of her rural Spanish roots into this celebrated comedy, igniting it with the feeling and artistry of flamenco.

The production of 'Loves Labours Lost' at the Globe is one of the most unique interpretations of Shakespeares plays I have ever seen. I have always been fascinated by new visions of his timeless works ever since in my youth I witnessed Keith Michel as Hamlet roaring onto the stage on a motorbike. The flamenco suited the scenario with the flamboyant costumes, Moorish inspired set, talented musicians and singer. And above all, the dancing by professionals and amateurs alike was skillful, passionate and vibrant. I know from experience myself how difficult it can be to master! As well as the script it also conveyed the huge variety of emotions on board - love, sex, friendship, humour, jealousy, aggression, wit and pathos. I felt so sad for the defeated and bloodstained bull represented by the dancer clutching enormous tusks. The enormous masks depicting latter day heroes also contributed to the carnival spirit of the show as well as the king and lords hilarious farce dressed as Russian Cossacks. Memorable and enjoyable for every single minute

This was a super fun and unique adaptation of the play. I loved the energy of flamenco!!!!
