Ohio in London is a powerful and moving autobiographical musical that was created by Abigail and Shaun Bengson, an Obie award-winning duo best known for their jovial musicality.
Through folksy indie music and deeply heartfelt storytelling, the Bengsons confront incredibly difficult questions pertaining to the nature of life, love, and mortality. When Shaun faces acute degenerative hearing loss, the couple responds as they do best — through song, humour, and the radical choice to embrace joy.
Directed by Caitlin Sullivan, Ohio is an intimate musical event that promises to celebrate life with resilience. This show is also produced by Francesca Moody, best known for her work on Fleabag and Baby Reindeer.
Having premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to critical acclaim, you do not want to miss its London debut this autumn.

Ohio is part musical and part confession, a theatrical experience unlike anything you've experienced before. Inspired entirely by their son's innocent question, one that we have all asked ourselves – "what happens when we die?" – Abigail and Shaun Bengson transformed one of their greatest losses into music, inviting audiences to experience their loss with them through a lens of joy and humour.
This show uses creative staging and includes captioning that reflects Shaun's new experience of sound, allowing the audience to share in their heartbreak and the evolution of their craft. Using the gift of sound, Ohio is a musical that expertly navigates grief with laughter.
As The Guardian said, "The pair create the atmosphere of holding our hands throughout, with angelic, ululating folk song accompanying the thoughtful ways they see and explain life. Their story serves as both a formal introduction to them as a couple as well as a deeply spiritual meditation on the world we live in."
