See Aimée Powell, Corey Weekes, Darrel Bailey, and David Webber on the Bush Theatre stage.
Together, the cast tells the story of Naomi, an occupational therapist who is leading a Caribbean cooking group that Ty, Daniel, and Leroy are part of. They take turns sharing and cooking their recipes, leading to smells and memories of home and their lives outside the hospital. However, as the hospital’s Family Day approaches, tensions run higher and higher.
This touching play brilliantly explores topics of identity, mental health, trauma, and institutional life.
“Food is so central to Caribbean culture – it’s home, comfort, love, healing. When your connection to home and culture has been severed, there’s something very powerful but also painful about reconnecting with it. Food allows us to explore the joy and pain that live side by side within these characters,” writer Sophia Griffin said.

After Sunday in London has a talented creative team including writer Sophia Griffin, director Corey Campbell, set designer Claire Winfield, composer XANA, costume designer Naomi Thompson, and lighting designer Ali Hunter.
After Sunday is a play that had a successful run at the Belgrade Theatre and is now coming to the Bush Theatre. As the WhatsOnStage review said of the show, “Divided into group sessions, the story unfolds through conversations and cooking. Director Corey Campbell has expertly punctuated these with short dance interludes which reflect the disconnect and struggle that are often hidden, subconscious or cannot be expressed through words.”
With an impactful, thought-provoking story, an exceptional cast and creative team, this is a new play that audiences certainly don’t want to miss.

This brand new play is fantastic—it’s been met with rave reviews from its Belgrade Theatre staging. After Sunday is an impactful story that perfectly balances tenderness with the more difficult realities of mental health struggles, all with the smells and tastes of home.
