More information about Entertaining Mr Sloane

Entertaining Mr Sloane is a play with a talented creative team which includes Nadia Fall (Abigail’s Party) in her first season as the Artistic Director at the Young Vic, set and costume design by Peter McKintosh (Trouble in Butetown), lighting design by Richard Howell (Othello), and sound design by Tingying Dong (London Tide).

In a statement, Nadia Fall said, “Together with the rest of the brilliant cast, I cannot wait to channel the downright audacity of this play!”

This beloved play has a unique history—it was written by Joe Orton and it premiered in 1964. During this time, the Lord Chamberlain was censoring scripts before their staging, and he was not happy with this play. DC Theatre Arts wrote, “Orton recalled with relish that the Lord Chamberlain had made him take out all the heterosexual naughty bits but left the homosexual ones behind—presumably not noticing they were there.”
