Spirited Away follows the story of ten-year-old Chihiro, who stumbles into a magical spirit realm ruled by the powerful witch Yubaba. When her parents transform into pigs, she must rely on her intelligence and courage to save them and find her way back home.
Following its highly successful sold-out tour in Japan, Spirited Away is set to make its London debut with the original Japanese cast, featuring Kanna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi alternating the role of Chihiro.
The production will include English captions, with a live orchestra performing Joe Hisaishi's score arranged by Brad Haak. The show will also feature set design by Jon Bausor, imaginative puppets by Toby Olié, choreography by Shigehiro Ide, and costumes by Sachiko Nakahara.

Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away was a major hit in 2001 and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film in 2003. In 2022, the stage adaptation of Spirited Away premiered at Tokyo's Imperial Theatre. It was adapted and directed by John Caird, known for his work on the popular West End musical Les Misérables, in collaboration with Maoko Imai.
Spirited Away will mark the second Studio Ghibli adaptation to grace the London stage. The Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of My Neighbour Totoro broke box office records as the Barbican in 2022 and will return for a second run after the huge demand.

When Spirited Away won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, it simultaneously set two records: the only non-English-language film to win the award and the only hand-drawn feature in its history to receive this honour.
Seating over 2,300 people, the London Coliseum is one of the largest theatres in London. The theatre, built in 1904, is a Grade II-listed building and retains many of its original features.
