What to Watch For

David Hockney narrates some portions of this show to give an inside look at his process. “The world is very very beautiful if you look at it, but most people don’t look very much. They scan the ground in front of them so they can walk; they don’t really look at things incredibly well, with an intensity. I do,” he says.

  • For a show about visual art, the sound is a standout. The show features a specially composed score by Nico Muhly, commentary by the artist himself, and a crystal-clear sound system that enables us to hear the inside of Hockney’s mind.
  • Shop and stroll around King’s Cross, and visit Lightroom’s bar, open throughout the day and evening. In collaboration with iconic London restaurant St JOHN, the bar offers drinks, coffees and teas, snacks, and St JOHN’s signature doughnuts and madeleines freshly baked to order. There’s also a merch shop within the event space.
