Adams plays Amanda Wingfield, who shares a St. Louis apartment with her children, Tom and Laura. Together, it’s almost as if they’re living in a pressure cooker. Tom is an aspiring poet trying to provide for his family. Laura suffering from polio makes day-to-day existence trickier than normal. Add into all of this that Amanda’s insistence to marry Laura off grows tiresome, and clearly there’s a few family issues that need unpacking. Told through Tom’s point of view, The Glass Menagerie is a memory play that explores how ambitions and dreams can be at loggerheads.
