About Only Fools and Horses

Mais oui, mais oui – the Trotters of Peckham are back! Del Boy, Rodney, Grandad and all the Only Fools and Horses gang have made the leap from sitcom legends to West End stars in this lovely jubbly musical adaptation.

The Only Fools and Horses musical keeps it in the family: it’s written by Jim Sullivan, son of John Sullivan, who created the sitcom, along with comedy legend Paul Whitehouse. Expect plenty of dodgy dealings from Del Boy, who’s still convinced that this time next year, they’ll be millionaires.

There are also romantic shenanigans for both Del Boy and brother Rodney. The latter is about to get married to Cassandra, while Del Boy meets actress Raquel via a dating agency.

The Only Fools and Horses London production is a feel-good musical romp for the ages, and its rogue traders have charmed the public since the show opened at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in the West End in 2019. There's a hilarious story from the original series, plus new songs from Chas and Dave’s Chas Hodges — it’s a proper pukka production.

Only a forty-two carat plonker would miss out.

More information about Only Fools and Horses

The Only Fools and Horses musical is a love letter to the 1980s and that magnifique Hooky Street. The show travels back in time to the Peckham estate where Del Boy, Rodney and their Grandad live, though it does include a witty moment where Trigger gets a shock as he glimpses London’s future: thanks to gentrification, barrow boys and wheeler-dealers have been replaced by hipsters and baristas.

The show also features a number of the beloved supporting characters from the sitcom, such as Trigger, Boycie, Marlene, landlord Mike, gangsters the Driscoll Brothers, and Uncle Albert. Not to mention a certain three-wheeled yellow Reliant Regal van…

Add in music from Jim Sullivan and Chas Hodges, the original theme tune reborn, as well as classic pop songs like Simply Red’s “Holding Back the Years” and Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day”, plus some nifty dances, and it’s a cheeky charmer of a musical. This cushty production even nods to the great British music hall tradition – a perfect match for such a great British comic institution.

What to Watch For:

  • David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst led the original sitcom, which ran from 1981-91 – plus several Christmas specials, and a Sports Relief special with David Beckham. The 1996 episode "Time on Our Hands" had a record 24.3 million viewers.
  • Caroline Jay Ranger directs and choreographs Only Fools and Horses. Her past work includes the UK tour of The Commitments, the Fawlty Towers Live tour, Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse’s Legends tour, and Trainspotting the Musical.
  • What do you think is the best ever Only Fools and Horses moment? Maybe it’s Del Boy falling through the bar, that famous Batman and Robin scene, or the peerless chandelier screw-up. Keep an eye out – you might well find some fan favourites cropping up in the musical…
