Brunches in Boston: Treat Yourself Before the Show

Brunch: the most important meal of the day. Or at least, the most important meal of the weekend. Order a plate of fluffy banana pancakes, or eggs benedict, and feel completely OK with your decision making. After all, you already went to yoga, right?

Boston is not lacking when it comes to finding delicious places to grab some grub before heading over to the theatre for a matinee performance.

Here’s our list of must-try brunch spots to try across the city. Just give yourself enough time so you’re not in a food coma during the first act…

Deep Ellum

Deemed a “hipster hotspot,” Deep Ellum is a gastropub with an industrial vibe and an extensive drink menu. Recommendations: BBQ Breakfast or Fall River French Toast

Brunch Hours: 11am – 4pm, Monday through Friday; 10am – 4pm, Saturday and Sunday

Kirkland Tap & Trotter

With exposed brick walls and old ceiling beams, the Kirkland Tap and Trotter’s cozy vibe heightens the experience as you enjoy the flavors of Chef Tony Maws’ menu.
Brunch Hours: 10am – 2pm (open for coffee at 9:30am), Saturday and Sunday
Recommendations: Mushroom & Reggiano Frittata, Grilled Avocado and a House-made Donut.

Puritan and Company

Using local ingredients to develop modern American creations, Puritan and Company will not disappoint on the scales of ambiance or selection.
Brunch Hours: Hours are not listed but reservations are strongly recommended. (Letís guess late morning to early afternoon on Sat and Sun.)
Recommendations: Beet-cured Salmon on Toast and any combination of the Pastry Basket. (Ok, maybe 2 orders of the Pastry Basket.)

Cafe Luna

Make sure you account for extra time at Cafe Luna as it may take you a little more time to read through the 4-page brunch menu. The biggest difficulty will be deciding on one plate. #thestruggleisreal
Brunch Hours: 9:30am – 4pm, Saturday and Sunday. Space is limited so itís highly recommended you make a reservation.

An intimate space with a friendly serving team, Centre Street Café is worth the wait, even if it means striking up a conversation with your neighbors in line.
Brunch Hours: 9:30am – 2:30pm, Saturday and Sunday. Centre Street Cafe does not take reservations during our brunch service.
Recommendations: Pancakes del giorno (pancakes “of the day” for the non-Italian speakers) and Grilled Oysters

The Table at Season to Taste

While dinners are led by Top Chef alum Carl Dooley, the Season of Taste Brunch is championed by Chef Rembs Layman who combines old favorites with new flavors.
Brunch Hours: 10:00 to 1:30 every Sunday. No reservations accepted.
Recommendations: Try it! Every day’s selection is different from next so essentially you’re having a once-in-a-lifetime meal!
