More information about Breaking the Story

Breaking the Story comes to Second Stage Theater, an Off-Broadway powerhouse and celebrated producer of new works. In this world premiere, Marina (Maggie Siff) is a foreign war correspondent who has an exciting life on the road and an adoring lover, who also happens to be her cameraman. Traveling to highly volatile wartorn countries across the globe, Marina is used to a life on the edge, but a recent, and bloody, trip leaves her wondering whether such a career can go on forever.

As a lifetime achievement awards ceremony approaches, bringing with it old friends and family to celebrate Marina’s success and reflect her harrowing experiences back to her, Marina sees her personal and professional lives blur in new and destabilizing ways. A blazing play zeroing in on the effects of war once you think you’ve left it behind, Breaking the Story is a razor-sharp portrait of one woman’s life and career, and how you can never truly leave your work behind.
