A CLASSIC REIMAGINED The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker is Debbie Allen’s adaptation of the classic two-act ballet by composer Tchaikovsky, revisited into a modern musical. Ms. Allen takes us on an exciting journey to new lands with larger than life, fun-filled characters.
SYNOPSIS It's Christmas Eve and the Johnson Family is having a grand party. The Christmas gifts are shared and young Kara receives a nutcracker doll filled with hot chocolate - her favorite. She falls asleep and the journey begins when the Nutcracker, who later turns into a prince comes alive.
Three wise cracking mice guide the adventure; Harvey, Schmink and Buckey. They are the Three Stooges incarnate from New York City who call themselves "The Real Rat Pack.”
They go to many new lands of wonder: Candy Cane Land, Egypt, the Indian Rainforest, Bollywood, Jazzland, and the Land of the Kimono Dolls. The adventures are never-ending from the toy soldiers waging battle with flamenco-stamping cockroaches to the production's original music, choreography and soulful performances.
Tchaikovsky's music has been replaced with original scores from award-winning performers such as Arturo Sandoval and Mariah Carey. This adaptation is the new holiday classic that will keep you coming back year after year.
