One of the largest theatre companies in the U.S., the nonprofit Center Theatre Group was founded in 1967 and is located in Los Angeles, California. Its venues include the Ahmanson Theatre, the Kirk Douglas Theatre, and the Mark Taper Forum, which won the 1977 Special Tony Award for Theatrical Excellence. Center Theatre Group has been home to many productions that have gone on to Broadway success, including 9 to 5, Children of a Lesser God, The Drowsy Chaperone, 13, and the Pulitzer-winning Angels in America.
