When a cyclopean meteoroid strikes the Earth, it causes quite a production — one in which everyone is propelled to break out into song and choreographed dance numbers. For Paul, a guy who doesn’t like musicals, this new existence is a nightmare. He’s ready for curtain call. “The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals” is running at the Matrix Theatre in Los Angeles through Nov. 4. The horror comedy is the latest stage venture from StarKid Productions, the company behind a series of zany, satirical online musicals that turn classic tuners and pop culture favorites into parodies.

StarKid Productions, also known as Team StarKid, was formed at the University of Michigan in 2009. The coalition of theater artists is at the forefront of producing and sharing theater on the internet. Check Team StarKid’s YouTube channel for full-length original musicals and humorous cover songs. Here are some of our favorites.

“A Very Potter Musical”
Everyone loves the boy who lived. “A Very Potter Musical”  is a mash-up of the Harry Potter novels and films. See a young (pre-“Glee”!) Darren Criss, who co-wrote the show, star as Harry.

“Holy Musical B@man”
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s “Super Friends”! Watch Batman, Robin, Superman, Spiderman, and The Green Lantern sing about their super friendship in “Holy Musical B@man.”

Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier”
“Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier” is a retelling of Aladdin from J’Afar’s perspective. Check out this song that features some of Disney’s favorite villains singing about their twisted hearts. Poor, unfortunate souls!

“ANI: A Parody”
“ANI: A Parody is about Anakin Skywalker as he goes on an adventure to reclaim his title as pod-racing champion of the galaxy. Unlike other parodies about the Star Wars trilogy, this one includes nods to musicals “Annie” and “Tommy.”

“The Trail of Oregon”
Pack your provisions and beware of dysentery! “The Trail of Oregon” follows a family as they journey along the Oregon Trail battling buffalo, snakes, and outlaws along the way.

“Firebringer”
In “Firebringer,” prehistoric cave people ponder progress and dream about a world with modern conveniences. Hunting and gathering takes a lot of work!

“Me and My Dick”
Me And My Dick is about a coming of age tale about a teenage boy and his, er, dick. In this scene, a group of lost dicks dance in ‘The Land of the Dicks.”

“Starship”
Starship is a sci-fi musical featuring puppets that takes place on the alien planet Bug-World. Bug is an insect who dreams of going on intergalactic adventures as a Starship Ranger.
