Next to Normal is a 2008 rock musical with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt. The story centers on a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effects that managing her illness has on her family.

Next to Normal is an emotional powerhouse that addresses such issues as grieving a loss, ethics in modern psychiatry, and suburban life.

Surging Theatrics is taking the following health and safety measures:

• Upon entry, all guests will answer the Covid screener questions
• All guests must wear a mask when not consuming food or drink
• All staff (not performing) will wear a mask
• SF&T and The Edge Theater are following all city, county, and state capacity protocols. All parties will be separated by at least one or more seats and staggered as much as possible throughout the theater
• All touch points and common areas are disinfected continuously throughout the evening
• Our theatre is regularly being disinfected before and after all shows
• All staff & performers are temperature checked daily and utilize appropriate PPE
• All staff & performers are fully vaccinated or submitting regular weekly negative test results
• All playbills will be available on a virtual QR code to limit the passing of objects between staff and audience
