World Premiere Kennedy Center Co-commission and Co-production with ZACH Theatre
Script and Lyrics by Sarah Saltwick Music and Additional Lyrics by Helyn Rain Messenger, Amber Quick, and Paul Sanchez Directed by Liz Fisher
Embrace the power of a cloudy day. The town of Dustbin is known for two things: rules and dust, the kind you get when it doesn’t rain for years and years. One day, Raina spies a cloud in the sky—but no one believes her. Determined, the young girl embarks on a great adventure to bring the cloud back home. Along the way, she crosses paths with Calamity Jane, Johnny Appleseed, Paul Bunyan, Rip van Winkle… and a thunderstorm!
If you’re looking for a tale that’ll make you believe in big dreams, tough gals, and the power of kindness, Raina’s story is right up your alley. Whether you’re young or old, get ready for a wild, heartwarming ride filled with spirited tunes.
This charming new folktale takes the stage, featuring a multitalented cast of actors who also sing and accompany themselves on banjos, fiddles, and more. With script and lyrics by Sarah Saltwick, music and additional lyrics by Helyn Rain Messenger, Amber Quick, and Paul Sanchez, and direction by Liz Fisher.
