About Liberation
See Liberation at Geffen Playhouse. Written by Tony Award winner Bess Wohl and directed by Tony Award nominee Whitney White, Liberation makes its West Coast debut following its smash Broadway run. It’s 1970, somewhere in Ohio and six women gather in a basement gymnasium for a consciousness raising group, determined to shake up their lives and change the world. These meetings quickly become complicated—friendships are tested, alliances shift, the personal becomes political and vice versa, ultimately calling into question the very meaning of freedom itself.
Get Liberation tickets in LA and explore sisterhood, family, and feminism across the ages. The New York Times calls it "an unadulterated pleasure. Powerfully moving and funny." Don't miss your chance to experience the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning play.

Frequently asked questions
What is Liberation about?
After a Broadway run that earned the Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize, Liberation makes its West Coast debut with sharp wit, emotional insight, and a fearless drive to challenge the status quo. It's 1970, somewhere in Ohio: six women gather in a basement gymnasium for a consciousness raising group, determined to shake up their lives and change the world. Soon friendships are tested, alliances shift, and the personal becomes political (and vice versa), calling into question the very meaning of freedom.
Directed by Tony Award nominee Whitney White, this daring, sharply funny new play explores what it means to claim power, alone and together, and reminds us that revolution is never simple, but always worth the fight.
