Bruce Lee’s final film, Enter the Dragon is a Hong Kong martial arts/action film combined with a James Bond-like spy story. Lee stars as a martial arts expert recruited by British Intelligence to take down a crime lord and drug dealer named Han. Han holds a yearly martial arts competition on his private island and Lee’s mission is to infiltrate it and destroy Han’s empire. He’s helped by two Vietnam War Veterans, played by John Saxon and world Karate champion Jim Kelly, in his film debut. It also has some of the earliest film performances by future Hong Kong action stars Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung.
Enter the Dragon’s action and storytelling--along with Lee’s sudden death at 32--helped it become the most successful martial arts film of all time. It made $25 million in 1973 to become the fourth highest-grossing film of the year, and was entered into the Library of Congress's National Film Registry. Enter the Dragon remains an iconic film to this day among fans of Bruce Lee, action films, and martial arts around the world: we are proud to present a 50th-anniversary presentation of this seminal film.
