PianoFight is a full service restaurant and bar with a cabaret stage and two intimate theaters. PianoFight is known for presenting New Work by New Artists, most of which is local, including plays and musicals produced by FautLine Theater. Shows run the gamut from world premiere plays to inventive sketch comedy, choose-your-own-ending plays to audience-judged theater competitions, improv to variety shows, dance, live podcasts, film screenings and more. PianoFight usually has a live band playing on their cabaret stage before and after shows.
PianoFight was formed by Rob Ready, Dan Williams and Kevin Fink in 2007. After completing a $1.2 million fundraising campaign, 10% of which was crowd-funded through the largest Theater Kickstarter for a New Live Performance Venue ever, PianoFight has completed its home at 144 Taylor Street in San Francisco. The venue contains three rehearsal spaces, two black box theaters (42-seater and a 92-seater), and a full restaurant and bar with a cabaret stage. Since its inception, PianoFight has successfully managed venues (Off-Market Theater Complex); created the largest audience-judged playwriting competition in the country (ShortLived); instigated a fully-scripted, choose-your-own-ending play series (FORKING!); recklessly invited audiences to Throw Rotten Veggies at the Actors Nights; formed two critically acclaimed sketch comedy groups (Mission CTRL and Chardonnay); toured the coast of California (Endless Weekend Tour I & II); created a surf rock band (Das Haus Band) and a soul band (PianoFight Music Department); launched a film department that retains corporate and artistic clients; and built a three-man producing team into a 48-member company of artists while staying true to its mission of producing New Work by New Artists ™. PianoFight is committed to making 144 Taylor St. San Francisco’s next landmark entertainment venue.
