Okay June, we see you, and we’re very excited about the lineup of weird and wonderful events going down this weekend and beyond. Celebrate your love of podcasts at GimletFest, dance the night away at Midsummer Night Swing, or maybe even dip your toe into the wild world of NYC nightlife…

Brooklyn, Downtown
Podcast, Talks, Panels

Podcast nerds rejoice, GimletFest is here! Does any other podcast network inspire as much love and loyalty among fans as Gimlet? Not in our office. We’re truly obsessed with Gimlet’s top-notch content from Crimetown to Startup and more. So what’s GimletFest you ask? It’s the best of Gimlet Media brought to life in two days of panels, talks, and hang sessions. See your fave podcasters live, meet other podcast fans, and soak in the cool at BRIC in downtown Brooklyn. Looking for a hot brunch spot in the hood? We recommend a quick jaunt to Walter’s for good food and good vibes.

It’s Delightful, It’s Delicious, It’s De-Lively
Manhattan, Midtown

If we told you that besides being a renowned cabaret singer who puts on a helluva show, Anna Lively is also one of the loveliest humans on earth we would not be exaggerating. Head over to Don’t Tell Mama and let Anna serenade you with Cole Porter while you sip on a nice summery drink.

On the Spot
Manhattan, Midtown
Improv, Musical

It’s improv. It’s musical. It’s an improvised musical. It’s seriously mind-blowing to watch the On the Spot crew create a completely new musical right before your eyes. Not only are they great musicians and improvisers, they have such a fun energy. You’re sure to leave humming some new catchy tunes that were written that night.

Broadway by the Year
Manhattan, Midtown
Concert, Broadway

If you don’t know this by now about us, we go gaga for Broadway over here. Many of us are musical theater summer camp kids still in our hearts, and we’ve been known to belt out a few show tunes at happy hour. If you’re like us (extremely awesome, duh) you’ll love the Broadway by the Year series at Town Hall. Author and critic Scott Siegel created this series for Town Hall, which he writes and hosts. Siegel takes audiences of all ages on a musical tour of the Great White Way, offering an entertaining verbal account of Broadway’s history. This week’s edition celebrates musicals from 1988 and 2017.

Coming up soon:

Midsummer Night Swing
Manhattan, Lincoln Center
Dance, Swing, Festival

During Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night Swing, Damrosch Park is transformed into New York’s favorite open-air dance party — for pros and newcomers alike. If your life was a Netflix original series, you would want there to be an amazing montage-y sequence of you on an adorable date at a Midsummer Night Swing event. Just sayin’.

Midsummer Night Pride Ball
Lower East Side, Manhattan
Burlesque, Circus, Opera, Party, Nightlife, Adult

You know when Company XIV gets together with Dances of Vice it’s going to be an absolutely wild night, and Midsummer Night Pride Ball will not disappoint. Get ready for a fetishistic midsummer bacchanalia in collaboration with TORTURE GARDEN, the world’s largest fetish nightlife brand and top latex fashion label. If a BDSM playroom and a latex fashion show is not for you, we’d recommend not going to this event. If this sounds like the type of experience you’re curious to check out or know you’ll love— break out your leather and latex and party on.
