Broadway and Off-Broadway Opening Nights this October in New York
October is right around the corner, and as it happens every year with the return of Hocus Pocus binge watching and sweater weather, comes new Broadway and Off-Broadway fall openings.
Check out these shows whose Opening Nights are this month and get ready to ask yourself: “Did he like it?”
1. Stuffed – Opening Night Friday, October 7

A world premiere play from comedian Lisa Lampanelli, Stuffed is about a group of women and their complex relationships with food and body image. Catch it at Women’s Project Theater at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre through November 6.

2. Oh, Hello – Opening Night Monday, October 10

John Mulaney and Nick Kroll bring their popular Oh, Hello sketch to Broadway, playing their alter-egos George St. Geegland and Gil Faizon. This hilarious new production is directed by Alex Timbers and presented in an extremely limited engagement at the Lyceum Theatre through January 8 only.
3. Heisenberg – Opening Night Thursday, October 13

From playwright Simon Stephens the writer of the Tony Award-winning The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Heisenberg is a striking two-hander featuring Mary-Louise Parker and Denis Arndt. Directed by Mark Brokaw, see it through December 4 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

4. Sell/Buy/Date – Opening Night Tuesday, October 18

Written and performed by Sarah Jones, Sell/Buy/Date is a lively new play about those whose lives are affected by the sex industry. See it through October 30 at The Studio at Stage II.
5. The Front Page – Opening Night Thursday, October 20

This star-studded production of The Front Page opens on Broadway this month at the Broadhurst Theatre. Focused on a group of reporters working for a tabloid newspaper and starring Nathan Lane, John Slattery, John Goodman, Jefferson Mays, Holland Taylor, Sherie Rene Scott, Robert Morse, and many more, this is a revival you won’t want to miss.
6. Vietgone – Opening Night Tuesday, October 25

The classic boy-meets-girl love story gets a new spin when the setting is moved to a post-Vietnam refugee camp in middle America in this heartfelt new comedy. Playing at MTC Stage I at City Center until November 27.
7. Falsettos – Opening Night Thursday, October 27

Falsettos is a unique musical comedy from James Lapine and William Finn about the intricacies of relationships. Tony Award-winner Christian Borle stars as Marvin, a gay man, as he deals with his wife, son, lover, psychiatrist and the lesbians next door. Playing in a limited engagement through January 8 at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
8. Les Liaisons Dangereuses – Opening Night Sunday, October 30

Christopher Hampton’s adaptation of the scandalous French novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos arrives on Broadway this fall, starring Janet McTeer and Liev Schreiber. Running through January 22 at the Booth Theatre.
