As live theatre kicks back into high gear, theatres in Los Angeles, like in many other cities, have implemented Covid-19 safety protocols to ensure the wellbeing of audiences.

Below are details on vaccination requirements at theatres in Los Angeles and Orange County, as well as additional safety protocols each theatre is taking. These may include mask-wearing, social distancing, ventilation, increased cleaning, and more. You can purchase tickets to shows at all the below venues on TodayTix.

Center Theatre Group at Ahmanson Theatre

All audiences at Center Theatre Group must present a photo ID and proof of full Covid-19 vaccination, and it is highly recommended that all patrons receive a booster shot. Booster shots will be required beginning in February 2022.

Unvaccinated guests, including children or those with a medical or religious reason, must provide proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken no more than 48 hours prior to attending an indoor performance, or a negative rapid antigen test taken no more than 24 hours prior to attending an indoor performance.

All audience members must wear masks in the theatre at all times, except when actively eating or drinking in certain designated areas. Masks with exhalation valves, masks made of loosely woven fabrics, and scarves, buffs, bandanas, gaiters, and face shields alone are prohibited. Masks will be provided upon request.

All audiences at Chance Theater must present a photo ID and proof of full Covid-19 vaccination. Those 12 and under must present proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance. All audience members, vaccinated or not, must wear masks in the theatre at all times, except when actively eating or drinking in certain designated areas. Masks with valves, mesh, or holes are not permitted.

The theatre has also designated certain “Vaccinated+ Performances,” which only vaccinated patrons may attend. There will be minimal social distancing in place at these performances.

In addition, Chance Theater requires all artists and staff to be vaccinated or tested regularly, undergo a daily health screening, and wear masks if not performing. Hand sanitizing stations have been installed, and the theatre has installed MERV 11 filters and turned on fans for increased air circulation. All seating areas are cleaned after each performance, and high-touch surfaces in restrooms are cleaned before and after each performance.
