While some West End shows come and go, many play to full-capacity houses eight times a week for decades. But during spring, a spotlight shines in the West End. Once a year, the West End community comes together to celebrate the Olivier Awards, recognising high-quality London theatre over the past 12 months. The 2022 Olivier Awards took place on 10 April, with shows including Cabaret, Anything Goes, Back to the Future: The Musical, Life of Pi and Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical all receiving awards.

However there are plenty of award-winning shows in London that still deserve your attention. Why not be whisked away to a fantastical world in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child or Wicked, or how about catching a concert at & Juliet? Whatever you see in London, you’re guaranteed a great time. These shows have the trophies to prove it.

The Book of Mormon

A satirical musical all about Mormonism doesn’t immediately scream “Broadway and West End hit.” However, millions have flocked to see the infectious comedy around the world and it shows no signs of turning off! The Book of Mormon follows two missionaries paired together to evangelise Ugandan communities for two years, but they learn more about themselves — and what they should put faith in — than any of the locals. The Book of Mormon won four Oliviers including Best New Musical. Ring the doorbell and say “Hello!” to the Mormons in the West End.
