“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” celebrated its Broadway opening at the Lyric Theatre on Sunday. The eighth installment in the popular series from J.K. Rowling follows the titular wizard after he has grown up and had his own children. Picking up where the seventh book ended, the story follows Harry’s journey into parenthood, and his youngest son’s struggles at school and in the wizarding world. Written by Jack Thorne and directed by John Tiffany with an original story by Rowling, Tiffany, and Thorne, the two-part show stars Jamie Parker as Harry Potter, Noma Dumezweni as Hermione Granger, and Paul Thornley as Ron Weasley, with Sam Clemmett as Albus Potter and Anthony Boyle as Scorpius Malfoy.
