After a few long weeks, we’re thrilled to be able to share with you episodes one and two of Broadway Backstory focusing on the story behind the Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Without further ado, let’s get listening!

Episode 1

Episode one covers the early days of In the Heights. From the show’s beginnings as a college project to the off-off Broadway readings that attracted big deal Broadway producers, we’ll hear how the plot of the show took shape, the creative team was assembled, and the money was raised to get the show on its feet.

Episode 2

Picking up where episode 1 left off, episode 2 follows In the Heights from the show’s first workshop to the Off-Broadway and Broadway productions. There was no guarantee that In the Heights would move beyond the workshop. Tough decisions were made and the show found its way, becoming the most Tony Award nominated show of 2008 and taking home the all important award for Best New Musical.
