About Stages Repertory Theatre
Stages Repertory Theatre produces new work, interprets established work in new ways and nurtures talent to invigorate culture for the good of the community. In 1978, Stages burst onto the Houston theatre scene, daring audiences to see the newest, most audacious works written for the stage. Characterized by courage, generosity, ingenuity and intimacy, Stages remains and integral part of the Houston arts community. Each production is brought to life by an exceptional team of artists, performers and craftspeople largely from the Houston area, but also with guest artists from around the world. In late 2014, Stages purchased the 36,000-square-foot building it calls home from the city. Plans call for the longtime theater company to raise at least $4 million to renovate the space along Allen Parkway in Montrose. The building includes two theaters, a box office, administrative offices and production shops as well as office space for the Houston Arts Alliance. Work will begin once the fundraising goals are met.
