The Winter's Tale
About The Winter's Tale
A loving marriage is torn asunder when Leontes suspects his loyal wife Hermione of being unfaithful to him with his lifelong friend Polixenes. Consumed by jealousy, Leontes plots murder, puts Hermione on trial, imprisons her, and casts out their infant daughter. The second half—and the passage of many years, brings revelation, forgiveness—and a new union between families. Helen Hayes Award-winner Aaron Posner directs an all-star cast in this fanciful romance.

"Folger Theatre is the vibrant centerpiece of performing arts at the Folger Shakespeare Library. In the beautiful, intimate Elizabethan theater, the Folger performs a series of classics reflecting the breadth of the library’s peerless collection. Each year, Folger Theatre produces a three-play season of innovative productions, designed to forge strong connections with modern audiences while continuing the lively legacy of Shakespearean stagecraft. While Shakespeare is central to its mission, the Theatre has produced a variety of other classical works, as well as new plays related to or inspired by Shakespeare. "
