About King Ubu
Pointless Theatre Co. presents a new translation of Alfred Jarry's seminal Ubu Roi. This iconic work of the early avant-garde has been sticking its tongue out at politics, war, and theatre orthodoxy since its premiere in 1896. Hilarious, violent, and absurd, KING UBU promises audiences lowbrow humor, ludicrous language, and full-bore puppet carnage all wrapped up into a funhouse take on Macbeth and classical tragedy. Directed by Frank Labovitz - a Helen Hayes award winning designer making his DC directorial debut - and featuring music by Helen Hayes nominee Mike Winch and the return to the stage of former Miss DC Haely Jardas, KING UBU is not for the faint of heart and not to be missed.
