About Anacostia Flats - Staged Reading

In 1932, a journalism student from Howard University witnesses the struggles of The Bonus Army, a group of 43,000 diverse marchers including almost 20,000 U.S. World War I veterans and their families, who demand the payment of their war bonuses. Squatting along the shores of the Anacostia River, they would fight to survive Depression-era America as well as the violent encroachment of Douglas MacArthur, J. Edgar Hoover, and the U.S. Army.
