About Ballet Across America: Shared Celebration Program

Illustrating the dynamic variety of artistry happening across American companies today, the Kennedy Center’s "Ballet Across America" series returns for a weeklong festival with a spotlight on women’s creativity and leadership in ballet. This season’s engagement showcases companies led by distinguished Artistic Directors Virginia Johnson and Lourdes Lopez with their respective companies, Dance Theatre of Harlem and Miami City Ballet. Each company will present a full program, with a shared celebration uniting them on May 31 to feature a world premiere Kennedy Center commission by renowned choreographer Pam Tanowitz.

Passage, a new Claudia Schreier commission (Montgomery/Schreier) with live music

Gustave Le Grey No. 1, a new Pam Tanowitz commission with Dance Theatre of Harlem and Miami City Ballet

Dougla (León and Holder/Holder) with original percussive band
