The 1950s Latin Lounge presented by Sydney Symphony Orchestra
About The 1950s Latin Lounge
The Sydney Town Hall is transformed into a vibrant nightclub straight from New York’s Golden Age, a time when soigné spots like the Copacabana were the place to be seen. The crowd is glamourous and the cocktails strong.
The music? Rhumba, mambo and chachachá in the style of charismatic stars like Desi Arnaz and Yma Sumac. At the same time, there’s also the music of West Side Story, written in uptown New York by Leonard Bernstein.
Conductor Guy Noble, the inimitable soprano Ali McGregor and burlesque diva Imogen Kelly join the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the crowds to shimmy and shake up the night. Be ready for a latin party – conga line included.
