About Present Perspectives
"Present Perspectives" features the work of Yuri Possokhov, Benjamin Millepied, and Alexei Ratmansky — reimagining classical forms for a new century. Created by San Francisco Ballet choreographer-in-residence Yuri Possokhov and set to Prokofiev, Classical Symphony is an intricate, challenging work dedicated to Peter Pestov, Possokhov’s teacher at the Bolshoi Ballet School. An intimate exploration of love and passion created by LA Dance Project director Benjamin Millepied, "Appassionata" features three couples who fall in and out of love over the course of one evening, set to the fiendishly challenging Beethoven score. Alexei Ratmansky’s ballet "The Seasons," created at American Ballet Theatre last spring, receives its West Coast premiere. Ratmansky reimagines a lost ballet by Marius Petipa, with colorful costumes, curious characters, and spirited choreography that requires star turns of the dancers.
