Pelléas et Mélisande
About Pelléas et Mélisande
Claude Debussy’s only complete opera, "Pelléas et Mélisande" — a story about a tragic love triangle — premiered in 1902 to immediate acclaim and remains a hallmark of 20th century opera.
Based on Maurice Maeterlinck’s eponymous symbolist play, "Pelléas et Mélisande" has been adapted for chamber ensemble by West Edge Music Director, Jonathan Khuner who will also conduct.
Director and choreographer Keturah Stickann makes her West Edge debut, having directed productions around the country, most notably at San Diego Opera. She was the choreographer and movement director for the world premiere of Jake Heggie’s "Moby Dick," subsequently seen at San Francisco Opera.
The opera will be performed in the original French with English supertitles.
