NEW YORK CITY – The year is 1965. The infamous “Needle Park,” becomes the backdrop for an interactive, immersive journey of addiction and its aftermath. This audience-driven narrative immerses participants in the fictionalized world of John and Karen, based on a real couple whose lives were the subject of a moving LIFE Magazine photo essay. "
Inspired by these breathtaking photographs, Live In Theater (LIT), the Drama Desk nominated and Gold Sabre Award winning interactive ensemble, created J & K 1965.
LIT’s creative director and the author of the piece, Carlo D’Amore, explores the potential immersive theater has as a tool for true empathic connection. In J & K 1965, the audience will Live In the work and be complicit in the love story at the heart of these “two lives lost to heroin.”
