About István Várdai, solo cello
Gifted Hungarian cellist István Várdai presents a solo recital of Bach’s Cello Suite No. 3, followed by the spectacular Solo Cello Sonata by compatriot Zoltán Kodály. Mastering an “oaky complexity” of tone (Washington Post), Várdai plays the oldest surviving Stradivarius cello, the 1673 “Ex du Pré-Harrell,” almost as remarkable as the artist himself.
Bach: Suite No. 3 in C major
Kodály: Sonata for solo cello
