NEWSical the Musical
Winner of the Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best Musical and the recipient of a New York City Mayoral Proclamation - NEWSICAL is New York’s long running musical comedy of all the news that’s fit to spoof! In a time when watching the news makes you want to cry, NEWSICAL comes to the rescue! In this always changing sketch comedy musical (think SNL - the musical) NEWSICAL examines all the names and faces in pop culture, celebrity gossip, politics, and beyond that drive us all mad!
Tell Me More
Talk about fake news. “NEWSical the Musical,” the long-running revue by writer-creator Rick Crom now in its ninth year off Broadway, pulls straight from today’s headlines for its ever-changing stage show. The musical parody, directed by Mark Waldrop, spoofs everything from celebrities to scandals and all the breaking news in between.
Nominated for two Drama Desk Awards and winner of the Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best Musical, “NEWSical the Musical” has taken on stars like Liza Minnelli and Anna Nicole Smith, shocking scandals from the Catholic church and even Siegfried and Roy’s tiger attack. In its latest edition, entitled “The Spoof of the Union!,” politics take center stage. Audiences can expect to see the four-person cast mock Oprah’s potential run for President and White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. That is, of course, unless a shocking new tweet from the President of the United States makes a last-minute change to the musical.
